The Virtue Training Bible Review #Faith #Trust #WordofGod

Wahm Reviewer Laura Heinle

I was blessed with the opportunity to review the Virtue Training Bible created by Mindy Dunn and her husband. I am so excited to share with you how I put this wonderful resource to work in my home, but first, I will tell you a little bit about it.

Holy Bible

Mindy describes the Virtue Training Bible on her website:

“The Virtue Training Bible is tool that allows parents and children (and anyone that loves the Word of God) to go directly to the pages of Scripture for instruction in 42 virtues.  The VTB emphasizes worship of our Triune God.  The yellow tabs at the top, right provide further study of the Trinity.”

When you order your own Virtue Training Bible, you will receive a set of 4 cards. The first card is an index card of all of the different virtues. The next 3 cards list all of the corresponding scriptures on one side and prayers on the other. You will then have the wonderful experience of setting up your own Bible. (Mindy does give the option of purchasing a ready-made Bible, but I have to say that going through each scripture on your own deepens your understanding.)

You do have to purchase your own Bible, color coded tabs to match the index card and highlighters. I purchased a Bible for $9, highlighters for $7 and flag markers for $8 a piece. All of these are easily found online or in a local store.

Once I had all of my supplies, I set to work on getting it ready to use with my kids. This was quite the process as the Virtue Training Bible teaches about 42 different virtues using over 500 different Old and New Testament scriptures! Totally worth the time I spent as it got me into the Word and helped me to get the full picture of the program.

I wasn’t sure how I wanted to use this in our home. I needed to find a way to fit it into our routine, so I decided to use it as my 11 year olds Bible study time each day. We followed the S.O.A.P. method. I gave him the Virtue Training Bible, a notebook and a printout from here to guide him through the process. I let him choose what virtue to work on and let him go.

He was to use one scripture a day from the chosen virtue, write it in his notebook and follow the rest of the S.O.A.P plan. The Virtue Training Bible made this process so easy for him. The scriptures were already picked out for him. He even chose to copy the whole passage.

Flash cards

He was to use one scripture a day from the chosen virtue, write it in his notebook and follow the rest of the S.O.A.P plan. The Virtue Training Bible made this process so easy for him. The scriptures were already picked out for him. He even chose to copy the whole passage when it was really long. For a kid that doesn’t like writing, this was amazing! He said his favorite part about the Virtue Training Bible is that it makes it easy to find verses about subjects that otherwise wouldn’t be so easy to find.

I highly recommend this Bible training resource for every Christian home. You can find your own by visiting http://www.virtuetrainingbible.com
