Younique Sunless Tanner

So…..once again when my friend Tammy asked for someone to check out a new Younique product, I jumped at it!! I am a ghost. So anything that makes me look less ghost like, I’m all for. That fact that it’s a product from one of my favorite companies, is a definite bonus.

You’ve got 3 choices, a lotion, a spray or an instant bronzer.  The bronzer washes off in the shower. I wanted something that would last longer, so I didn’t choose it.The lotion was what I was looking at, but it was on back order. So I went with the spray. I actually think it was more appropriate for what I wanted anyway. I didn’t want to go home ghost white and show up at work and everyone think—oh she got a fake bake tan last night. The spray from what I’m told is a lighter tan.

   My New Spray.

20160418_130007

Tiny but mighty.

So when I got the bottle of spray, I must say I was a bit surprised. It’s tiny, as you can see in the picture there by the soda can. So instantly I messaged Tammy and said “I sure hope a little goes a long way with this.” She assured me it did. She said it covers an entire body twice. Well….I’m only spraying my legs (I run so I’ve already got some color on my face and arms-yes I use sunscreen!!) She figured I get 4 or 5 applications at least.

So off I went to make sure my legs were clean, dry, exfoliated and shaved. I hopped out of the shower and sprayed my legs, rubbed in the spray and washed my hands. I just used a light spray I wasn’t sure how dark it would turn me. Well….first things first….that stuff dries almost INSTANTLY!! Oh hallelujah! Finally a spray tan I can use and get dressed right away!! Totally LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I noticed a change within seconds. Then I checked back 15 minutes later and an hour later. It was slight, but it was there.

This is what it looked like 24 hours later. I was a happy girl. Now…it might not look like much to you. But…to me it was exactly what I wanted. As I mentioned earlier, I’m a runner. I occasionally have to tape my legs due to shin splints. Well….when I pulled the tape off, the tan came off with it. Which, I completely expected, it happened when I had a spray tan done as well. But, the great thing is, I’m probably the only one who would notice it and reapplication of the spray worked great!

I’m sold! I love this stuff! If you want to learn more, contact Tammy Ward at http://www.lashgirlparty.com or on Facebook

Hippie Love – Peace, Love, Scrub Is Natural Goodness That Leaves You Inspired

WAHMReviewer – Kathy-Ann Mohammed
I received this product for free in exchange for this honest review.
Peace, Love, Scrub

A little bit about Hippie Love – Peace, Love, Scrub and the owner Melissa Simoes:

The name was chosen because we wanted to make all natural products. I also wanted a way to inspire people. So that’s where the phrase about all natural ingredients for your skin infused with inspiration for your soul, came from… every full size product has an inspiration quote on the packaging… because you never know who needs to hear some kind words.   Originally I loved peace love scrub but it was taken on FB where we started so I went with “Hippie Love” – I love things with a hippy/boho vibe and we try to bring it back to basics / natural. We just started in October doing local events and craft fairs, although I’ve been in direct sales for over 4 yrs (so the events & selling aren’t new to me, but creating is). I am a full time working mom and this is my side gig but I’m pouring my heart and soul into this business…I find creating to be therapeutic! I love all natural products but they can cost a fortune so we try to offer them at reasonable prices. We are launching a pet line coming soon, starting with dog lotion bars.
Hippie Love – Peace, Love, Scrub makes natural skincare using 3 major ingredients: coconut oil, beeswax & fragrance oil/s.
I was sent the lotion bar in the scent Relax.  Relax consists of coconut oil, beeswax, lavender, pine, jasmine, vanilla and light musk oils.  The scent is lovely and uplifting and does exactly what it is supposed to do which is calming and relaxing.
How to use:
You place the entire bar in your hands to warm up, using the coconut oil as it melts to rub all over (like you would after putting a blob of lotion in your hands if that makes sense).
How to store:
comes in a bag to store.
I met Melissa is a networking group on Facebook and she was actually looking for reviewers to review her lotion bar.  I approached her and told her I was relatively new with blogging and new to doing product reviews and would love the opportunity to review her product.  She was so kind to respond right away and even though I am in Canada and she is in the USA she agreed to send me the product for review.  She was patient as the product took 1 month to arrive to me and when we almost thought it could be loss in mail land  she was ready and eager to send me another but finally it arrived.
lotion bar and sample 1
I am so delighted to be given this opportunity to review my first product.  I am happy and grateful that she trusted me to give my honest opinion about her product.  I love skincare especially natural skincare and was excited to receive the lotion bar and try it out.
lotion bar 2
So I received the Relax lotion bar on Thursday but had a slight fever so I wanted to wait until the weekend to use it as I didn’t want the fever to speed up the time it takes to melt into my hand as I wanted my review to be based on accurate findings.  Yeah I’m a geek like that.  LOL.
Saturday I tried the lotion bar as planned.  I could smell the fragrance from outside the bag which made me anticipate using the product more.  However I am highly sensitive to strong scents and the scent of the Relax bar was subtle and not over powering.  I found the scent to be calming and relaxing just as it said it would.
IMG_20160319_205711
I placed piece of it in my hands and began to rub my hands together gently.  The texture of the lotion bar as it melts into the palms of the hand is creamy and a cross between a balm and a butter but not greasy.  It looks like a soap bar so it is a cool concept that it is a lotion bar.  This was the first time I tried a lotion bar.
IMG_20160319_210139
I have very sensitive skin and is careful as to what I put on my body/skin.  I have hypothyroidism so my skin is very dry especially in the winter months.  Over the last year I developed eczema on the back of my hands mainly although I do have a bit of it by my elbows and by my ankles but not as much as my hands. The Relax lotion bar was lovely and seemed to condition my skin well without using a lot of the product.  I am muslim and makes ablution before my prayer so even after I had been in water and dried my skin my hands were still conditioned and soft.  I do pray 5 times a day and so I make ablution 5 times as well and being in the water constantly dries out my skin more.  I used the lotion bar before bed as well and my skin felt conditioned in the morning.  What I love about this bar is it is so easy to use and store so it is perfect for your purse or desk or even for by your bed to use nightly.  Regular lotion tends to come out in blobs and sometimes you have the dried crust from the last application.  Sometime too with regular lotion I squeeze/pump too much out and have to find places just to distribute it without wasting or I get my hubby to stick out his hands to get rid of the excess.  I really like the Relax bar as the size is perfect and you use how much you want and it is not greasy.   It left my skin and the eczema patches smooth and conditioned.
IMG_20160319_212459
Again I was glad to be given the opportunity to review the Relax lotion bar.  I am quite pleased with the product and would definitely use it again.  I would recommend this product to family and friends. I would buy this product.  The cost of the product/s is reasonably priced. In fact the cost is much lower than that of businesses like Lush or The Body Shop.  I would totally support WAHM/MOM/WOMEN owned businesses and buy from them instead of larger corporations where you are just a dollar sign.  It was a pleasure to get to know Melissa.  I love the name of her company and loves the inspiration quotes that come with each product.  I would love to review other products by Hippie Love – Peace, Love, Scrub

Well, the company contacted me and wanted to let me know (so I could pass this great info on to all of you) that they have a GREAT new stocking stuffer!!!!  The kit includes one of their great handles, and not 1 but 2 different sets of cartridges and a cute little mustache monocle.  You can get all this for a great price too!!!

REMEMBER order by DEC 17th for Christmas delivery!!

Plus, they have a great new commercial—you can check it out on youtube here
The commercial is cute, but….they need to focus on their great ladies products too!! However, when it comes down to it, why not get the people you love something they’ll love!!

PS—after the first of the year they are coming out with a shaving cream too!!!!!

I must say that I was ecstatic when Britney reached out for me to do a review on her products. She is a Level 5 Leader with Rodan + Fields. Rodan and Fields are the same folks who made Proactive. If you have problem skin, you’ll want to listen up to this! These doctors created the ONE and ONLY dominant GOLBAL Acne treatment which is sold in 181 Countries TODAY.

Britney sent me a sample of Rodan + Fields, Micrio-Dermabrasion Paste along with a blue and silver capsule. The serums are in Rodan + Fields Anti-Aging line (REDEFINE) and the paste is in our Enhancement line.

Before I post my experience with the samples I wanted to touch base on a few things. I have learned such a great deal with Britney in the short amount of time. She knows her stuff. She was all smiles and ears listening to the question that I had, and answered them all which made me feel well connected with her.

WAHMReview.com RD

When I opened up the package, she had 3 items for me to try, along with her business card, and directions on how to use them.

Directions: Serum filled capsules, and a sample of paste. Little tiny presents that you must not waste.

Exfoliate first, then rinse and pat dry. Next comes the blue capsule, spread over the entire face but avoid the eye.

Finish off with half the silver capsule, over the lips this you must spread. Save the rest to apply the very next day. I thought heck this seems easy enough! Off I go for a “pamper me night”. I took Cosmetology in high school and loved the fact that I could now say that I know how to do a proper facial, and I had some great directions from the samples she sent.

#Handmade Skincare Products from Scratch with #TheSoapDistillery

WAHMReviewer – Laura Heinle

If you know me, you know I love body scrubs and other “smell goods” for the shower and bath. That’s why I was so happy to get the opportunity to review some products for The Soap Distillery. All it took was one peek at her etsy page,http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheSoapDistillery, and I was sold!

The Soap Distillery is based out of Chicago, Illinois where Danielle makes small batches of each product, inspired by cocktails, beer, wine and spirits, by hand using raw ingredients and no premade or purchased bases. With names like “Hair of the Dog” and “On the Rocks,” who couldn’t love these products? They carry all handmade soaps, body scrubs, body wash, and body oils. So there is something for everyone.

I was given a choice as to what scents I wanted. They honestly all sounded good to me, so I told Danielle to just surprise me. Surprise me she did! I got “Wheat Beer” soap, Body Scrub in “Tequila”, ”Hair of the Dog,” and “Gin,” and “Bourbon” Body Oil. Of course I had to open all of them right away and give them the sniff test. They were all awesome!!! I couldn’t wait to try them out!

The Soap Distillery Products WAHMReview

The soap is great! Even my husband is using it and he loves it. Our skin doesn’t dry out like it does with “regular” soap from the store, and it smells great! The soap looked really cool too! It looked like a glass of beer straight from the tap. A perfect gift for that beer lover in your life.
The scrubs caught me off guard a bit. In a good way though. With other scrubs they always leave my skin feeling oily, which is great, if that’s what you’re going for. These scrubs don’t do that at all. They are a “scrub and body wash all-in-one!” They left my skin feeling clean and gently exfoliated. All three scents smelled great, but “Hair of the Dog” is my favorite, hands down!
The body oil also surprised me. I’m not big on that oily feeling, if you haven’t guessed that yet. So, I was a bit apprehensive when I went to try this oil. It is lightweight and left my skin so soft! Now, it’s my go to after a shower. The scent, “Bourbon,” is scrumptious. My husband loves it!

Robin’s Soap Shoppe – #Handmade #Skincare Products

WAHM REVIEWER- Cecily Butler

I was sent item’s to base this review on, all of my thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Robin’s Soap Shoppe

I have a friend in KY who when faced with the difficult decision of how to support her family decided to go back to what she knew best, soap making. Robin’s Soap Shoppe has been making cold process soap since 2002. In that time she’s made nearly 3000 bars of soap!! She makes the soaps out of her home by herself or with the help of her two teenage daughters. She’s a one woman show!! Robin is an army veteran and a single mother of 4. What makes Robin’s story more amazing is that she does this while fighting debilitating anxiety and arthritis.

Robin's Soap Shoppe

Robin’s soap Shoppe soaps are made with essential oils and fragrance oils. On top of smelling great they look beautiful too!!! I was so excited when I opened my box and found two of the most beautiful looking soaps I’d ever seen. I chose her Super Gardener soap. I love to get out and dig in the dirt and thought my hands would enjoy the pampering. I almost didn’t want to use the soap it was so pretty. It smelled amazing, clean and flowery at the same time, without being heavily perfumed or over powering.

Soap Robin's Soap Shoppe

This soap will totally change your thinking about soap. No longer will the 6 pack of cheap bar soap from the discount store work.  When you see the artwork and the time it takes to make these beautiful soaps you will never go back.

Robin sells her soaps through her Etsy shop Robin’s Soap Shoppe which I encourage you to visit and read more about her story and her journey into soap making. She also details the arduous process of making cold process soap. You can also check out her salves.

You can also follow her on facebook.  Robin’s Soap Shoppe on Facebook

Also, the pictures in this review were taken by Robin. She is an excellent photographer as well. I knew any pictures I took would not do her soaps justice.

The Natural Choice Apothecary #skincare #Natural

WAHM Reviewer – Kristina Mumma

Disclaimer: I received the products detailed below to facilitate my review. No other compensation was received. All opinions expressed are my own.

natural choice apothecary

The Natural Choice Apothecary can be found on Etsy providing “all your Natural Apothecary needs from salves, scrubs, lotions, lip balm, calming aids, and even natural candles to create the perfect bath and body get away while staying natural and organic!” In addition to their Etsy shop, they can be found on Facebook as well as a facebook VIP group where you can participate in promotional events, get sneak peeks at new products and even be first to try them!

The Natural Choice Apothecary

One of the reasons I was most excited to complete this review was because of the products being of a holistic nature.  As a holistic health practitioner and advocate for holistic remedies, reviewing natural health/home products is of utmost interest.  Also because of my background, I tend to scrutinize products that purport to be “natural”, “organic”, “healing.” With The Natural Choice Apothecary any skepticism was quickly appeased as Carolyn, the owner, is an educated herbalist and creates wonderful natural products with quality ingredients!   (and I am admittedly picky when it comes to this genre! J)

So what exactly did I review? 1 full size tin of Sleepy Balm, 1 tube of Herbal infused Lip Butter and 1 sample pot of All Purpose Herbal Balm.

Natural Choice Apothecary group

Another new favorite of mine is the Herbal Infused Lip Butter.  I admit I was skeptical of this item.  I’m not a huge fan of most lip products- often they are too oily/greasy or too waxy.  I also am not a fan of the artificially “flavored” lip products. That said, I LOVED this Lip Butter!  It was smooth, subtly scented and just the right amount of moisture for my lips!  This items is made with: Olive Oil, Organic Calendula Flowers, Organic Plantain Leaves, Organic Lavender Flowers, Organic Lavender Buds, Organic Echinacea Angustifolia Flowers, Organic Echinacea Angustifolia Root, Organic Cocoa Butter, Unbleached Beeswax, Vitamin E Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil.  I have a feeling that I’ll be ordering a few extras soon because my 11 year old daughter seems to have taken a liking to this product as well!

Herbal Infused Lip Butter

The third product I reviewed was a sample of All Purpose Herbal Balm…I absolutely LOVE this product!  When I first received it I used it on a small patch of eczema that I had on my face.  It was soothing and my eczema seemed to clear up in just one day!  My true appreciation of this product, though was today.  My daughter fell off a motorized scooter (the kind you stand on NOT the kind you ride on!) and skinned her knees and broke her elbow.  Her elbow was scraped and bleeding as well as swollen.  You can imagine the tears and pain.  After cleaning her wounds I applied the herbal balm.  It was light, went on smoothly and actually soothed the scraped areas.  My daughter was afraid that anything I put on her boo boo would burn but this was 100% pain free…plus it meets my standards!  This Herbal Balm is made with organic olive oil infused with organic calendula flowers (super healing ingredient!), organic plantain, organic lavender buds, organic Echinacea Angustifolia, organic coconut oil, beeswax, tea tree oil, lavender oil and vitamin E oil.  In addition to how I used this Healing Balm, according to the product page it can be applied to small cuts, scrapes, bruises, sunburn, diaper rash, chapped skin & lips, severe cracked skin, Eczema, Psoriasis, external yeast infections and vulvular irritation.

all purpose herbal balm

Over all I found The Natural Choice Apothecary to be a fabulous resource for natural apothecary products.  The packaging is cute, ingredients are clearly detailed and each product page in the etsy shop lists product uses.  You can purchase these products as well as others online at http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheNaturalApothecary, follow on the FaceBook  fan page, join the FaceBook VIP group or Follow on Twitter. The Natural Choice Apothecary is sure to become one of my favorite resources…I highly recommend trying out a product or two – I’d be surprised if you didn’t love it like me!
